The Gift of Hope

About Gift of Hope

A Gift of Hope is a bouquet of 10 daffodil stems in a vase that is delivered to people with cancer in hospitals and treatment centers in our community. It is delivered anonymously, and it’s meant to share hope for a future where cancer no longer threatens us, or those we love. The Gift of Hope is about more than just about delivering flowers, although we do hope the daffodils brighten a patient’s day! More importantly, a Gift of Hope delivery is an opportunity to establish a relationship between the patient and the Society to help them and their caregivers through the cancer experience with information, support, and free programs and services. Dollars raised through Daffodil Days and its Gift of Hope enable the American Cancer Society to continue our mission of saving lives from cancer. Thanks to Daffodil Days donors, the American Cancer Society is saving lives every day. For nearly a century, we have fought for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community.

Together, we save lives by:

  • Helping people stay well by helping them take steps to prevent cancer or detect it early
  • Helping people get well by being in their corner around the clock to guide them through every step of the cancer experience
  • Finding cures by funding and conducting groundbreaking research into cancer's causes and cures
  • Fighting back by working with lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and rallying communities worldwide to join the fight

Each bouquet of 10 daffodil stems is presented in a special vase. Bouquets are not delivered to specific patients, nor is the donor’s name attached to a gift. Multiple donation levels are offered to allow donors to select a meaningful giving level they determine appropriate. A minimum donation of $25 is suggested, while donations of $50, $75, $100, and $250 or more will save more lives. The entire Gift of Hope donation may be eligible for a tax deduction because the donor receives no goods and services in exchange for the donation.
